My new favorite 'tini

After a long day at the dog park sniffing butts, nothing is as relaxing as a good stiff drink. I am partial to a dry martini made with Chopin vodka. Jalapeno stuffed olives add that extra special "Old Town Scottsdale" touch.

OK - ITS NOT AS BAD AS I THOUGHT

OK - No need to call PETA. I rather liked my water massage. I was rather filthy, but now I am refreshed and feel like a new pup. I really enjoyed the rub down with a soft towel. Good times ;) Tomorrow will be first official photo shoot, so look for my new photos tomorrow!

I was so tired after my big adoption day, that I fell asleep on the floor. Normally, sleeping on the floor is totally unacceptable for a dog of my stature, but as you already know from my first post below, that situation has been remedied.

My first night at home

It was a eventful day when I was adopted. All I wanted was to sleep. All my new owners wanted was to take my pics.
Hello everyone!

My name is Smokey (my new owners thought that since I am black and have the face of a bear, I should be named after a fire prevention mascot...personally, I think they were smoking something when they came up with that one).

Some obviously intelligent people at the Arizona Animal Welfare League rescued me from Maricopa County Animal Care and Control. They saw that I was pretty friggin' awesome and knew that given a proper chance, I would be adopted by some caring folks. Everyone at the AAWL was so nice to me. After finding I had an ear infection, they started me on medicine to clear that up, they gave me all of my shots and even micro-chipped me in case I ever got lost again. I have also been told that my family jewels were taken away from me, although I do not remember ever wearing any type of bling before I arrived at the shelter. Anyway, if it wasn't for the AAWL, I might not be living in glamorous Scottsdale. If you live in the valley and want to adopt a loving dog or cat from a great organization, check out my buddies at the Arizona Animal Welfare League (www.aawl.org).

Check out below what my friends at the AAWL wrote about me before I was adopted (their name for me was "Seal" (WTF is up with these stupid names) ??!!??:

"Hey there! My name is Seal. I have heard that I am the calmest, sweetest, most well behaved dog at the shelter. I am a chilled out, mellow guy who would love nothing more than to curl up next to you, and be the calming presence that helps you de-stress after a long day at work. Given how sweet natured and calm I am, I would do wonderfully around children of all ages. And I\'ll tell you a secret: I will exchange eternal love, affection and devotion for belly rubs. Looking to bring a calm, polite, good dog into your home? Please come and give me a chance! I promise that you will leave the adoption center with a wide grin...and if we are the right match, a loving dog that will spend the rest of his days with you. "

Pretty awesome, huh? Yeah, I know.

As for these two guys that adopted me...well, where do I begin? At first, they were all like "Stay off the couch", "You are not allowed in the bedroom", "Here is your fabulous new toy" (they say fabulous alot) and "We are in charge". Well, less than 24 hours later, I am happy to report that I am on the couch, allowed in the bedroom (with my own bed, thank you very much), I totally ignore an expensive toy and I am fully in charge of those two!

Don't get me wrong, being adopted is the best thing that ever happened to me! I reward them with kisses and by allowing them to rub my belly. I don't pull on my leash when we go on walks and I let them pick up my poop. What more could they want? Understand though, they fully know their place and how things are going to work in MY HOUSE.

I know you are all interested in seeing my adorable face and hot bod on my blog. Good things come to those who wait. Someone who calls himself "Todd" is giving me a bath soon and then we are going to have a photo shoot. I have to look good for my public and adoring fans. I am also getting over a small cold, so I want to be at 100% before I am posted on the web. I pride myself on my natural beauty and not having any "work" done (I cannot say the same for some of the people I saw at the Chaparral Dog Park yesterday) and I want my photos to reflect that.

Finally, I want to give a shout out to some of my new homies. To Ranger and Scout, hope all is well in Columbus, OH.... to Zack in Johnstown, PA, stay cool....to Abe and Adam in Orange County, CA, hope you are all settled in and feeling 100% awesome in your new crib....to all the kitties and dogs that the Johnson clan has, I am looking forward to a night out on the town with you in Logootee, IN someday soon!

Well, that is all for now. I don't want to overwhelm you with my fabulousness (damn...now they have me saying that word).

Peace out!
